Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Rio Tinto Copper Group Country Director, the primary purpose for the Legal and External Affairs Specialist is to provide expert advice on legal and political issues, managing relationships with the other stakeholders including coordinating with Rio Tinto Legal (London) and external counsel.

This position will be an integral part in the Rio Tinto team in Mongolia. The role requires the ability to troubleshoot and identify complex problems in multiple areas, which may cut across cultural, social, organizational and geographical boundaries.

Requirements:

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is required along with a high level capability in English and Mongolian. A sound understanding of Mongolian law, political processes and current public issues is required, along with experience working for a mining company and/or law firm. You will also have demonstrate a strong focus on safety, as well as the ability to develop productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and willingness to work in a developing country with a team from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.

The position will be based in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia.
